I have to give my husband Erik credit for this blog. The Give One Get One program through One Laptop Per Child is awesome. It wasn't a easy feat. The founders were trying for a $100 laptop for all kids in underdeveloped counties. They didn't quite make it but they came very close $188. These little laptops will connect these children to a world they may have not even know existed. Their lives will be changed forever. That is powerful. www.laptopgiving.org

We took advantage of this opportunity to own one of these computers. We are giving it to our daughter for a birthday present. I am looking forward to telling her about where the second laptop went and explaining to her that the child who will receive it, will have probably never seen a computer before.

This led my husband and I to a conversation about education in our country. Computers are going to be so important to her generation. This prompted an idea by my husband:

"The impact on the 3rd world countries is definitely interesting. But what if you gave one of these to every 1st grader in the US? If you look at how the system networks with other XO laptops and how the applications talk across the network the interactions and collaborations could be really cool. Think of each child adding a sentence to a collaborative story. How about teaching music by letting every child in the classroom pick an instrument and jam a bit. Very cool."

Think we could get a bond passed for that?
