Some Recycling Facts To Mull Over

The first time I read these facts I was blown away. Literally my mouth fell open. I had no idea that the items that I had been throwing away were so valuable. I have always had an awareness about recycling but this list put it in another light. A light that I could totally understand and relate to. My hope is that someone reading this will also have that reaction and will become aware that what they may be throwing in the garbage isn't really garbage after all.

'Earth Hour' to plunge millions into darkness

Twenty-six major cities around the world are expected to turn off the lights on major landmarks, plunging millions of people into darkness to raise awareness about global warming, organisers said.

'Earth Hour' founder Andy Ridley said 371 cities, towns or local governments from Australia to Canada and even Fiji had signed up for the 60-minute shutdown at 0900 GMT on March 29.

"There are definitely 26 (cities) that we think, if it all goes to plan, we are going to see a major event of lights going off," he told AFP.

Many types of wrapping paper are NOT recyclable! Here are some reasons why:

1) Wrapping paper is often dyed, laminated and/or contains non-paper additives such as gold and silver coloured shapes, glitter, plastics etc which cannot be recycled
